Chair slipcovers for every seat in your home

How to choose a chair slipcover

Start with the chair, not the cover. Measure the widest point of the back, the seat width and depth, and the arm height if your chair has arms. Then compare those numbers to the fit range on each product. A cover that is too small will pull at the seams. A cover that is too large will bunch.

Think about how the chair is used. A reading chair in a living room can take a soft velvet or fleece. A desk chair that sees daily use does better with a stretch jacquard knit that holds its shape. If spills are a concern, look for a water resistant option like the Corn-Grain Waterproof Chair Cover.

Sizes and measuring

Every cover here lists its range in inches first, with the metric value in brackets. Measure your chair in inches and compare directly.

For wingback chairs, the Wingback Chair and Ottoman Cover Set fits chairs 30.7-33.5 in (78-85 cm) wide, 37.4-39.8 in (95-100 cm) high and 33.1-35.4 in (84-90 cm) deep. The Wingback Velvet Slipcover Set uses the same chair range and adds a seat cushion cover.

For tub chairs, the Leaf Jacquard Tub Chair Cover fits 25.5-29 in (66-74 cm) wide, arm to arm. The Stretch Velvet Tub Chair Cover fits 26.3-28.7 in (66.8-72.8 cm) wide and 23.5-27.5 in (59.6-69.8 cm) tall, with a seat 17.5-21.5 in (44.5-54.6 cm) wide.

For club and barrel chairs, the Smooth Stretch Club Chair Cover fits 27.6-31.5 in (70-80 cm) wide, arm to arm.

For armchairs, the Corn-Grain Waterproof Chair Cover fits chairs 18.9-20.5 in (48-52 cm) tall, with a seat 17-18.5 in (43-47 cm) deep and 20-21.7 in (51-55 cm) wide. Arms fit 6.7-8.3 in (17-21 cm) high. The Fleece Knit Stretch Chair Cover fits chairs 20-23 in (51-58 cm) wide, with a back height of 16.5-19 in (42-50 cm), a seat 16.5-19.5 in (42-50 cm) wide and arms 8.5-11.5 in (21.5-29 cm) high.

For office chairs, the Stretch Jacquard Office Chair Seat Cover fits seats 15.8-18.9 in (40-48 cm) wide and deep. The Velvet Stretch Office Chair Slipcover fits backs 22.8-31.5 in (58-80 cm) tall. The Plush Velvet Office Chair Cover fits backs 19.7-25.6 in (50-65 cm) tall and seats 17.7-23.6 in (45-60 cm) wide.

For gaming chairs, the Spliced Stretch Gaming Chair Cover fits a 70-76 cm (28-30 in) back height, 48-52 cm (19-20 in) back width, 50-53 cm (20-21 in) seat width, 45-50 cm (18-20 in) seat depth, 42-52 cm (17-20 in) seat length and 20-30 cm (8-12 in) armrest length.

Measure twice and write the numbers down. That is the whole trick.

Materials and feel

Stretch knit is the workhorse. The Stretch Jacquard Office Chair Seat Cover uses a stretch polyester spandex jacquard knit with a woven pattern. The Spliced Stretch Gaming Chair Cover uses a spandex and nylon blend with a printed spliced pattern. The Smooth Stretch Club Chair Cover is 100 percent polyester with a smooth matte finish.

Velvet brings warmth and a slight sheen. The Wingback Velvet Slipcover Set and the Stretch Velvet Tub Chair Cover both use stretch polyester velvet at about 180 gsm. The Leaf Jacquard Tub Chair Cover uses stretch polyester jacquard at about 200 gsm with a soft velvet plush feel and a leaf pattern. The Plush Velvet Office Chair Cover uses a plush velvet with no pattern.

Fleece is the softest option here. The Fleece Knit Stretch Chair Cover blends polyester and cotton for a soft fleece with a knit feel.

Jacquard adds texture without print. The Wingback Chair and Ottoman Cover Set uses stretch polyester jacquard at about 200 gsm with a subtle woven pattern. The Corn-Grain Waterproof Chair Cover uses a stretch knit polyester jacquard with a woven corn-grain texture.

Care and washing

All covers on this page machine wash at 30°C (86°F) on a gentle cycle. That keeps the stretch in the knit and the color in the fabric.

Drying varies by fabric. The Wingback Chair and Ottoman Cover Set, the Fleece Knit Stretch Chair Cover, the Wingback Velvet Slipcover Set and the Stretch Velvet Tub Chair Cover can go in the dryer on low. The Stretch Jacquard Office Chair Seat Cover, the Spliced Stretch Gaming Chair Cover, the Leaf Jacquard Tub Chair Cover, the Corn-Grain Waterproof Chair Cover, the Velvet Stretch Office Chair Slipcover, the Plush Velvet Office Chair Cover and the Smooth Stretch Club Chair Cover should hang or air dry.

Put covers back on while the fabric is slightly damp if you want a snug fit. Most covers go on like a fitted sheet: find the front, tuck the seat, then work the back and arms.
