How to use it

Slide the insert into the cover and settle the corners so the rib lines stay straight. A 20 x 20 in (50 x 50 cm) cover suits a standard square throw pillow on a sofa, bench or bed. The 18 x 18 in (45 x 45 cm) size is a common accent size for armchairs and reading nooks. The 16 x 16 in (40 x 40 cm) size works on smaller chairs, window seats and benches.

For a fuller look, use an insert that is the same size as the cover or slightly larger. For a softer, slouchier cushion, use an insert a touch smaller. The knit stretches, so it will follow the shape of the insert rather than fight it.

Corduroy pairs well with other textures. Try it against a cotton muslin throw or a faux fur throw for contrast. On a bed, two 20 in covers in the same color make a clean pair, while a mix of beige and khaki keeps things calm.

Care

Machine wash at 30°C (86°F) on a gentle cycle, then tumble dry low. Wash with like colors. Skip bleach and high heat, which can flatten the cord. A low tumble or line dry keeps the striped surface raised.
